India's teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be accompanied by his parents during future overseas tours after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a special provision due to his age.
The 15-year-old batter, who recently earned selection in India's T20I squads for the series against Ireland and England as well as the Asian Games, is currently with the India A team in Sri Lanka. According to BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia, the board believes parental support is important as Sooryavanshi adjusts to life in the senior men's team environment.
Speaking to Hindustan Times Digital, Saikia said the youngster is still a minor and faces a different situation compared to age-group tournaments, where he usually travels with players of a similar age.
"He is a small child and still a minor. Earlier, he was travelling with his contemporaries in Under-19 events. But now he is travelling with the men's team, who are all adults. Therefore, we deem it proper that his parents or somebody from the family can travel with him," Saikia said.
The BCCI official confirmed that Sooryavanshi's father is set to join him in Sri Lanka. The board is also willing to support his parents if they choose to accompany him on the upcoming tour of England.

Saikia said the arrangement is intended to help the teenager settle comfortably into the senior setup. He added that this is an exceptional case because of Sooryavanshi's age and does not represent a general policy for all players' families.
The decision comes during a remarkable year for the young left-handed batter. Sooryavanshi played a key role in India's Under-19 World Cup triumph, scoring 175 in the final against England. He later produced a standout campaign in IPL 2026 with Rajasthan Royals.
According to the figures provided, he scored 776 runs in 16 matches at a strike rate of 237.31. His performances earned him the Orange Cap and the Most Valuable Player award.
His rapid rise continued on Saturday when the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee included him in India's T20I squads. The selection also saw him surpass a 36-year-old record held by Sachin Tendulkar by earning a place in the national squad at a younger age.
During the squad announcement, chairman of selectors Ajit Agarkar said Sooryavanshi's performances made him impossible to ignore.
"I think he has just picked himself, really. With his performances, he has almost forced us to pick him with how well he has played," Agarkar said.
He praised the youngster's ability to perform under pressure and described him as an explosive player capable of changing games. Agarkar also said the selection committee has high hopes for his future.
For Indian cricket fans, Sooryavanshi's selection marks another major step in the emergence of one of the country's most promising young talents. His upcoming assignments with the senior team will now be supported by a special arrangement designed to help him adapt to international cricket at a very young age.
