Multan Sultans locked horns with Islamabad United at the National Stadium in Karachi to play the eight game of the tournament.
Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan won the toss and opted to bowl first. Shan Masood and skipper Mohammad Rizwan came out to open the innings for Islamabad. The Pakistani opener has been in fine form in the last twelve months. Since the start of 2021, he has scored over 2000 runs in T20I cricket. The 29 year old has led his side to three straight wins in the PSL in the ongoing edition of the tournament.
But fortune did not favor the 29 year old wicket-keeper batsman on Wednesday. Rizwan scored two fours before he was dismissed by Mohammad Wasim. The incident took place in the penultimate ball of the over with Shaun Masood on strike. Shaun Masood played a straight drive off a full toss delivery. The ball kissed the batsman’s hands as he tried to spot it but failed to do so. The ball went on to hit the stumps at the nonstriker’s end. Mohammad Rizwan was well out of his crease and he was run out. The skipper looked frustrated as he did not expect it to happen in the first place. Out of rage, he smashed the bat in the pitch.
The video of the same has gone viral on the net and fans were quick enough to react to this.

But the Multans did a great job by putting up a mammoth total of 217/5 on the board. Rille Rossouw scored a 35 ball 67 which included 4 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 191.43. On the other hand, Tim David scored a quickfire 71 off 29 which helped the Sultans reach the total.
In response to the total, Islamabad United did a good job but were 20 runs short of the target. Shadab Khan’s 91 run innings helped them to reach 197 in the end.
With this win, the Multan Sultans now has 4 wins in 4 games and are at the top of the table. Islamabad United is poised at the third position in the table with a win in 2 games.
