India’s opening batsman Ishan Kishan is reportedly admitted to a hospital in Himachal Pradesh because of a Head Injury he sustained when he was hit hard on the head during the 2nd T20I at HPCA stadium in Dharamsala. This event happened when Sri Lanka’s fast bowler Lahiru Kumara was bowling in full rhythm and pace, it was the 4th over of the chase when Kumara bowled a breathtaking bouncer and Ishan Kishan was late on the pull and the ball hit him flush on the helmet.
Kishan immediately removed his helmet after that blow before Team India’s medical team came for the aid, Lahiru Kumara and the whole Sri Lankan team also checked if Kishan is fine, However, Ishan was fine to continue but after that blow, Kishan never look comfortable at the crease, hoicking every ball and in the process, he was caught at mid-on in the 6th over.
The doctor said “I have been attached to the Indian team and I got information that an Indian player who has sustained a head injury has been brought to the hospital. His CT scan was conducted and he has been kept under observation”. This also means Ishan Kishan is surely not going to play the 3rd match of the series because it is going to start in less than 24 hours.
Ishan Kishan struggled in the West Indies series where he scored just 71 runs in the 3 innings but he started well in the first game against Sri Lanka with 56 balls 89 and was looking good for the rest of the series but this blow might rule him out for the next match because of a precautionary measure.
As far as the match is concerned India won the game comfortably despite conceding 183 runs in the first innings but thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s blistering fifty and his quickfire partnership with Sanju Samson helped India get close to the target while after Sanju’s dismissal Ravindra Jadeja Smacked 45 in just 18 deliveries to help India get over the line by seven wickets with 17 balls to go. Earlier today Indian bowlers struggled in the death overs where they conceded 81 runs in the last 5 overs with Sri Lanka’s captain Dasun Shanaka smashing 47 of 19 deliveries which also included 5 huge sixes.

It was also India’s 11th consecutive win in the T20Is which started from the World cup game against Afghanistan back in October 2021, Rohit Sharma said after the game “It was important for the middle order to contribute and string together a partnership. Don’t want to be too harsh on the bowlers they bowled well but the pitch was superb and the ball was coming nicely and batsmen enjoyed their time in the middle”
Shreyas Iyer was adjudged Player of the Match for his unbeaten 74 of 44 deliveries. The 3rd and last game of the series are set to be played at the same venue today and with the Injuries, in the Indian camp, it will be quite interesting to see the team combination.
