Former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli was arrested for Drunk Driving on Sunday. The 50-year-old also hit a passing car near Bandra society in Mumbai. He was immediately taken into custody and was investigated at the Bandra Police Station. The ex-cricketer was arrested after a resident of the Bandra society filed a complaint against the cricketer.
He was charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) section r.w. 185 of the Motor Vehicle Act (driving under the influence of alcohol). Kambli was released on bail later that day as reported by news agency PTI. It was also heard that Kambli argued with the watchman of the society and also with some residents living there.

Kambli was a left-handed middle-order batsman and was the first player in the history of the game to score a century on his birthday. Kambli has featured in 17 tests for team India wherein he has amassed 1084 runs at an average of 54.50. He has four test hundreds and three fifties to his name. He holds an experience of about 104 ODIs in which he has racked up 2477 runs averaging about 32.59. He has smashed two hundred and 14 fifties in the 50 over format.
Kambli who was born and brought up in the city of Dreams – Mumbai shocked the world when he (17) along with Sachin Tendulkar who was 16 at that time put on an unbroken 664 run partnership. Kambli struck two double centuries and two tons in his first five test matches.
The former cricketer is nowadays into coaching and has expressed his willingness to work in the Indian Premier League.
Last year in December, Kambli filed a complaint in Bandra Police Station when a fraudster withdrew INR 1.14 lakhs from his bank account. The fraudster pretended to be a private bank executive and asked Kambli to update his KYC details over a phone call.
