Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul are some of the biggest names in World Cricket and Indian cricket, The duo also earned hugely amount in Mega Auction, Shreyas Iyer was snapped by Kolkata Knight Riders for ₹12.25cr INR, While KL Rahul was picked in the draft by one of the new team Lucknow Super Giant for a whopping amount of 17cr. INR. This made Rahul the joint-most expensive player in the history of the league alongside Virat Kohli, who earned the same amount (from 2018 to 2021) from the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Kolkata also named Shreyas as their captain for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League, Rahul was also named as captain of Lucknow-based Franchise as soon as he was picked in the draft. Shreyas Iyer and Rahul will lead their respective franchises in the upcoming 15th edition of the Indian Premier League.
In a recently released statement, Iyer revealed that he consider KL Rahul as his ‘favorite captain’ for allowing him to bowl in the ODI series against South Africa. He said, “It was nice to play under him. Firstly, he is an outstanding player. The confidence he carries on the field and in the team meetings, the support that he provides for the players is great.”
KL Rahul has already led Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League, He has even led team India against South Africa when regular captain Rohit Sharma was injured and ruled out of the series hamstring injury.
Rahul was appointed the captain of Punjab Kings in IPL 2020 and captained 27 games in the IPL. He has won 11 and lost 14 of those games while two matches ended in a tie. thus he has a winning percentage of 44.44, while Iyer has played 41 matches as captain with a win percentage of 53.65.
It will be interesting to see the approach from the two dynamic batsmen from India and how they will lead their respective teams in the IPL.
