The tenure of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Secretary Jay Shah Shah is now nearing completion. But the matter has now been placed in the Supreme Court by the BCCI.
The BCCI says that the cooling-off period for the tenure should be increased. BCCI Panel has made this appeal. In addition, the board’s petition to amend its rules is expected to be heard soon.
On this appeal, Chief Justice NV Ramana said that he sees whether the matter will be heard by next week.
Let us tell you that in 2019, a petition was filed by the board in the Supreme Court, which appealed to amend the constitution of BCCI. In this petition, the board had sought to increase the cooling-off period of the chairman, secretary and other officers, as well as seek permission to change some other rules related to the constitution.
It is worth mentioning that Sourav Ganguly and Jay Shah took over as the President and Secretary in October 2019. By the way, the tenure is 3 years, which will end in September 2022.
