The Kings from Punjab are one of the current teams that have yet to establish their dominance in the Indian Premier League. The Punjab-based franchise made it to the final only once back in IPL 2014 season where Glenn Maxwell fired for them throughout the season, Being such an old team it is sad like they have reached the final for just one time.
In 2014 when they reached the final they were outclassed by Kolkata Knight Riders thanks to Manish Pandey’s innings. Since their first entry into the final in 2014, they failed to make it to the playoffs from thereon. They have also changed different captains but ran through inconsistent patches since then.
After the departure of their star batsman KL Rahul, this time Punjab Kings have signed some of the top overseas and Indian players including the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Kagiso Rabada. Both players were quite consistent at Delhi Capitals in the past few seasons. Besides that, They have also signed English star batsman Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, and Indian imports in the form of Shahrukh Khan, and Rahul Chahar.
Punjab kings will be led by Mayank Agarwal this time around, Meanwhile, former Indian legend, Sunil Gavaskar thinks Punjab Kings can not win the trophy this time around with the team they have.
The former Indian batting legend and World cup winner Gavaskar reckons Punjab Kings don’t have any impact on players who can change the innings. He also highlighted that it is highly unlikely that Punjab Kings have the team to win the Title.
