Match 30 of IPL 2022 saw some breathtaking batting performances between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Rajasthan Royals at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on April 18. While RR posted a mammoth total batting first, KKR likewise kept them honest riding on counter-attacking knocks from two of their seasoned players.
Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Aaron Finch carried out the partnership and took the attack to the Rajasthan bowlers. At one time, it seemed as if they may take the match away from the Royals but that was not to be. More importantly, when Finch got out from here things started getting a bit worse on the field.
Aaron Finch who has played his second match for KKR made a strong statement with an excellent inning of 58 runs from 28 deliveries at a brilliant strike rate of 207.14 that included nine fours and two sixes. He looked firm for a big one but lost his wicket on the final ball of the 19th over when he tried to hit the ball over mid-off and got caught by Karun Nair off Prasidh Krishna.
However, while Finch was walking back to the pavilion after being caught he turned toward Prasidh and started saying something to the youngster. The young pacer did not back down either and gave it back to the Australian T20 skipper.
Aaron Finch and Iyer were involved in a 107-run stand for the second wicket after Kolkata lost pinch-hitter, Sunil Narine early, for a golden duck. Once the T20 World Cup-winning captain was caught, the pressure was on Iyer to anchor the chase and he did his level best to make a comeback in the match. He scored 85 runs from 51 balls.
Regardless, once he was caught plumb in front of the wicket by wrist-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, different batters could generally not contribute excessively. Tail-ender Umesh Yadav contributed with a nine-ball 21 yet that was insufficient as KKR were bowled out for 210 in the last over to lose the game by seven runs.
