VIDEO: Madhya Pradesh Created History, Beat Mumbai To Win Ranji Trophy For The First Time; The Coach Started Crying After The Victory!

Madhya Pradesh beat Mumbai in Ranji Trophy. Madhya Pradesh won their maiden title by six wickets at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The team went on to win by 108 runs, though they lost Yash Dubey early on Himanshu (37), Shubham Sharma (30) and Rajat Pathithar led Madhya Pradesh to victory. Score: Mumbai – 374 & 269 Madhya Pradesh – 536 & 108/4.

Emotional moments ensued after winning the tournament. Head coach Chandrakanth Pandit was happy to coach what he could not do as a player. Chandrakanth Pandit was the captain who guided Madhya Pradesh to the final of the Ranji Trophy in the 1998-99 season 23 years ago.

However, they lost to Karnataka at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Chandrakanth cried with his hand on Pandit’s face when it became his last FC game that day. Today, after 23 years, Chandrakanth Pandit was able to win the title as a coach at the same Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he shed tears.

The players were taken away in honour of the coach. After the match, Chandrakant Pandit said he could not refuse the coaching offer and that it was the foremost of the six trophies he has won as a coach.
