England leveled the five-match Test series 2-2 by winning the Edgbaston Test by 7 wickets. England needed 119 runs to win on the fifth day and England chased these runs quickly by scoring 119 runs before lunch. Jonny Bairstow scored a century in the second consecutive innings, while Joe Root also batted aggressively and completed a century before Bairstow.
During this, Root lashed out at the Indian bowlers and did not take pity on Shardul Thakur at all. Root treated Shardul’s pace bowling like a spinner and reversed it and hit a six over the third-man. The video of his superb six is becoming increasingly viral on social media.
This was not the first time that Joe Root played this shot to take his batting to the next level. The way he played with Shardul Thakur, he did the same with fast bowler Neil Wagner in the series against New Zealand. Joe Root’s reverse scoop was easy against Shardul but very difficult against Wagner, and the fans remembered the same shot.
