The Orange Army, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a miserable outing in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), where they ended up last on the Points Table for the first time ever in the history of the Indian Premier League. Since the Orange Army had a forgettable IPL 2021, the team management decided to bring some huge changes in the squad and coaching staff. One of the new players they signed at the IPL 2022 Mega Auction was New Zealand’s hard-hitting Wicket-keeper batsman Glenn Phillips.
Glenn Phillips has already earned a name for himself with his hard-hitting ability, However, he is yet to join the SRH Squad. The Sunrisers Hyderabad player their opening game of the IPL 2022 campaign against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Tuesday at MCA Stadium in Pune.
In a recent Instagram story, Glenn Phillips disclosed that he tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of the 15th edition of the Indian Premier League. So he is still there in New Zealand right now and will only join the squad once he recovers and tests negative for COVID. He clarified saying, “For those who keep asking – I am stuck in New Zealand due to a positive PCR travel test. I will be joining SRH as soon as I can.”
SRH started their 2022 IPL campaign with a big loss against Rajasthan Royals at MCA in Pune, The SRH bowlers struggled and conceded 210 runs in the first innings thanks to a blistering fifty from the Royals captain Sanju Samson and some lower-order hitting from Hetmyer who scored 32 of just 13 balls to take Royals to 210 for 6 after their 20 overs, In reply Rajasthan’s new recruits, Yuzi Chahal and Krishna were too hot to handle for SRH as they combine to pick 5 wickets and restricted SRH to just 149 for 7 and won the game by 61 for the Rajasthan Royals.
SRH’s next game is against one of the new Teams Lucknow Supergiant on Monday 4th April at DY Patil Stadium who are also coming from a loss, It will be interesting which team can get their first win and earn an early momentum in this long tournament.
