Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul has already praised young Ayush Badoni as a strong 360-degree player and an asset for white-ball cricket in India after the youngster showed his skills with the bat in a six-wicket win against defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
Badoni who scored a fighting half-century in the previous encounter against Gujarat Titans made 19 not out in 9 balls to guide his team to victory coming to bat when the team needed 34 from the last 2 overs, Badoni looked calm and composed and along with West Indies import, Evin Lewis Badoni guided Lucknow to their first IPL win ever.
Badoni went unbeaten on 19 which also included a couple of sixes. The first of his two sixes, against Shivam Dube in the 19th over of the chase which he flicked a leg-side ball over deep mid-wicket hit a girl in the stands flush on her head. Thankfully the spectator wasn’t seriously hurt.
“Badoni, I’d seen a few videos, when you only get to see the good shots, but the way he’s been batting is phenomenal. Strong, 360-degree player, a great find for India, and an asset for white-ball cricket,” KL Rahul said at the post-match presentation.
Rahul also credited Lucknow’s Team management Gambhir and Vijay Dahiya for finding such talent like Ayush Badoni, He said the whole credit goes to the Team scout and Gambhir for finding Ayush Badoni.
As far as the game is concerned, After winning the toss KL Rahul invited Chennai Super Kings to bat first on a flat wicket and with dew already in the play, both teams were coming from a loss in their first game.
Chennai Super Kings posted a huge total of 210 runs in their allotted 20 overs thanks to a blistering fifty from Robin Uthappa and lower contributions, For Lucknow Ravi Bishnoi was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets for just 24 runs in his 4 overs.
In reply, needing 34 in their last 2 overs, Ayush Badoni and Evin Lewis made sure that Lucknow got over the line with 3 balls to spare and handed their Team the first win of their IPL Journey.
